At The Optical People, we provide thorough, tailored eye examinations for all ages—whether you’re attending under the NHS or privately. We believe in giving every patient the time, care, and advanced technology needed for optimal eye health and vision.

We’re proud to offer state-of-the-art equipment at every stage of your eye examination including:

• OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) scanning. This revolutionary technology creates a 3D map of your retina, allowing us to spot potential issues years before they become visible.
• Ultra widefield digital photography using hospital grade Optomap for detailed images of the both the central and far periphery of your eyes.
• HD photos and videography for images of the anterior eye if necessary. Very helpful in monitoring conditions such as skin legions, lid conditions and corneal problems.
• Digital Phoropters: No more trial lenses falling into your lap! We offer instant comparisons of lenses using a machine that sits in front of the face called a phoropter to find your prescription, making your decisions easier and the whole process smoother and more efficient. Two of our consulting rooms are even fitted out with phoropters that can find your prescription to an accuracy of 0.01 dioptres instead of 0.25 dioptres (this is called an Ava prescription- please ask for this on booking if it is something you would prefer).
• Specialist dry eye diagnostics and management through our in house dry eye clinic, Dry Eye Wales.
• Digital Dispensing: Using a variety of tools and specialist equipment which can measure how you read, turn your head, your eye dominance, the rotation fo your eyes and much more to create completely personalised lenses and provide the clearest possible vision.
• In house lab where we can calculate the lens thickness to ensure you are happy with your frame choice and lens material before you buy, as well as be able to assemble your spectacles with care and many quality control measures in place to ensure you are getting the best end product.
