The Optical People started with a vision. From our early days as Gardiner’s Opticians serving the South Wales community, through the dedicated partnership years of Armstrong and Millington, and then Millington Dawson – we’ve been shaping Chepstow’s eye care landscape for generations. In 2018, Jaclyn Pugh joined the family, followed by Lynne Fraser in 2021 and together with an incredible team, we’re taking vision care to exciting new heights.

Our experts constantly level up their expertise with specialist training, because your eyes deserve nothing but the best care – just ask our patients, some who travel from way beyond the border to see us!
As for eyewear, we’re pretty picky – in a good way. We handpick frames from a range of top designers that are both stylish and practical. We’re one of just two practices in the UK with two digital dispensing columns, meaning next-level prescription accuracy and glasses that fit like they were made for you (because they were!).

When it comes to eye care tech, we’re self-confessed geeks. We’ve got gadgets galore, including an Optomap scanner that captures an amazing 200-degree view of your retina and HD photography and videography in every consulting room – it’s like a state-of-the-art home entertainment system for opticians! Jokes aside, it means we can get a supremely detailed view of your eyes, so we can spot anything unusual quickly.
